The Cape Verde Islands lie well in the trade wind belt. The Trade Winds blow strongly here so be prepared for boisterous sailing conditions. While the wind has more of a Northerly component closer to land, it becomes more Easterly the further out to sea you are. Bear in mind that these Islands are poor, tourism is quite new and not everything is easily available. Some find this very appealing and it is certainly more unspoilt than many locations in in the Mediterranean.
Most locals would agree that its not a First world country. They do however value tourism and more and more expats are buying holiday homes, retiring there or holidaying in the Cap Verdes.
The Cap Verde Islands do however offer a taste of cruising at a purer level. Some decide to spend a lot of time in the Cap Verde Islands. There are lots of French cruisers who spend time here and in West African locations such as Dakar in Senegal.
The Cape Verde Islands are not a place to have a change of heart regarding the cruising life. However, some do, there are many yachts there with "history", lying empty and unused. Sometimes it just comes down to a lack of time.
Aqua Six can offer a solution. While getting the yacht there might be quite straight forward if the conditions are right, getting it back is not so easy. Aqua Six can and will come to your aid.

No matter how securely vessels are left, they need to be watched over and maintained. This is often a good reason to have someone look after the yacht or simply bring her home.
